Have you ever realized that you do not pronounce the letter "g" at the end of words that end in "ng"?

The n and the g actually merge into a velar nasal (a nasal sound like 'n' that is articulated at the same point where your tongue articulates 'g' and 'k'). This is not the same as pronouncing it with an "n", like in playin' or nuthin'
