This Privacy Policy explains how Backlot Creations, LLC (“YouThink,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the YouThink mobile app and website (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

Who can use YouThink

YouThink is for people aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us at hello@youthink.com and we will delete it.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account & identity: your email address, and a username (handle) and display name you choose.
• Verification: a one-time code is sent to your email to sign in. If you add a phone number, we use it for verification; we store it in encrypted form.
• Demographics: your date of birth (used to confirm you’re 13+ and to derive your age and generation), gender, and region/location. These power the demographic breakdowns that are core to the Service.
• Profile: an optional bio and profile photo, and your visibility settings.
• Your activity: the questions you ask, the answers you choose, comments you write, and the people you follow or friend.

Information we collect automatically

• Device & usage: device type and operating system, app version, and how you interact with the Service (for reliability, security, and improvement).
• Log & approximate location: IP address and related log data, from which we may infer an approximate, non-precise location.

How we use your information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• Show how people answered, broken down by demographics such as age, gender, and region. These breakdowns are presented in aggregate.
• Personalize your feed and surface relevant content.
• Keep YouThink safe — moderation, abuse prevention, and enforcing our Terms.
• Communicate with you. We send service messages (like sign-in codes). We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and you can opt out at any time.
• Comply with legal obligations.

What others can see

YouThink is a social app, so some information is visible to other users: your handle, display name, photo, bio, and the content you post. Your responses contribute to aggregate result breakdowns. You control parts of this through your profile settings — including whether your age, gender, and region show on your profile, and whether your account is private.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With service providers who run the Service on our behalf (for example, cloud hosting and email delivery), under obligations to protect it.
• For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
• In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, with notice as required by law.

Your choices and rights

• Access, update, or correct your profile information in the app.
• Control what shows on your profile and whether your account is private.
• Opt out of marketing emails at any time.
• Delete your account, which removes or de-identifies your personal information.
• Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, delete, or restrict use of your information. To make a request, email hello@youthink.com.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, then delete or de-identify it, except where we must keep it to meet legal, security, or fraud-prevention obligations.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and we encrypt particularly sensitive fields such as phone numbers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there. By using the Service you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
