I mean, once they're dead, that's it. It's not like they become some euphoric spirit that can continue to observe the living or like they move on to some beautiful afterlife where the demands of living are non-existent. Even if there was/is an afterlife, I don't believe they'd go there and if their souls continued to live, you'd think they'd be restless and tormented.
