In Canada you have to pay $1000 to move here. I suppose it might be a good idea, because what if they didn't get a job? I think there are already enough people on welfare that don't need to be. (Not saying immigrants are lazy.) But on the other hand, I'm sure when you move to a new country, you already have a job in mind or are looking to get a job, and you should be able to just get in. And what if you need to get away from your country but you can't because you can't afford to get in? A government official said it was for security purposes mostly, but don't you think a terrorist could come up with that kind of money? So I think I'm mostly 'no' on this.
