A sex attacker who drugged and then raped two 14-year-old girls has been jailed for eight years. A court was told that the attacks took place at John Dunlop's home at Whitburn in West Lothian. One of the girls ended up in intensive care after taking the drugs. The judge, Lord Wheatley, said he had no doubt the girls 'contributed to what happened' but Dunlop had committed rape and he took a serious view of that. Dunlop's victims had been in care and the court heard that they had gone to his house in the early hours of the morning because they wanted to stay out all night 'for a laugh'. The 55-year-old accused already had a conviction for indecency with a girl, the High Court in Dunfermline heard. The latest attacks happened after the girls, now aged 15, went to his house. One had broken a curfew at a children's home and the other had left her foster parents' home without telling them. Dunlop photographed the girls as they tried on each other's clothes and played with their hair. He gave them sedatives and anti-depressants prescribed for his own medical conditions and then raped them. It was alleged that the girls took the tablets willingly but one of them ended up in intensive care. Prosecutor Keith Stewart said: 'They were prescription drugs supplied to Dunlop and he knew what the effect would be.'
