Priest Gets 30-Day Sex-Abuse Jail Term in Michigan Fri Nov 1, 6:26 PM ET DETROIT (Reuters) - A judge on Friday sentenced an 83-year-old retired Roman Catholic priest who formerly worked in the Detroit area to 30 days in jail and five years probation for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in 1986, authorities said. The sentence for Robert Burkholder was handed down by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Tim Kenny after Burkholder entered a no-contest plea to two counts of criminal sexual misconduct stemming from his relationship with the boy, prosecutors said. Burkholder, who was extradited from his home in Hawaii to face the abuse charges in Michigan, retired from the priesthood in 1985 but was disciplined by church officials in 1993 because of complaints of alleged sexual misconduct.
