Do you think karma is only used by some people to rid themselves of anger and revenge?

Sometimes when you get so mad at someone you could just about want to kill them, you have to stop yourself and hold back because revenge is wrong and hating your enemies is wrong. Is karma a way of letting go and saying the universe will exact revenge so you don't need to?
