Do you think dogs should be called Canine-Americans instead of just dogs?

These days 'dog' has a negative connotation. If someone is bad, they are a dirty dog. If you are making fun of someone, you are dogging them. If someone is ugly, they are called a dog. It gives dogs a bad name, so should they be Canine-Americans now? Or Canine-Europeans, whatever the case may be. Body hair, slobbery mouths and wet noses - underneath it all, we're all the same, said Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States at a recent annual animal rights conference in Washington, D.C. Pacelle suggested replacing the word 'dog' with 'Canine American' to promote the equal rights of man's best friend. Logically speaking, that would make dogs living north of the border 'Canine Canadians.'
