Once upon a time, people kept in touch by writing letters and mailing them. That was before e-mail and other electronic methods became a part of everyday life. One of the victims of those changes: the neighborhood mailbox. The number of those traditional blue metal mailboxes has decreased by more than 12% nationally since 1999.
