I’ve found that a lot of people who easily dismiss the opinions of the uninformed will also put a lot of value in data collected by opinion surveys. But survey data tends to be taken from uninformed people, and I think if more people realized that they wouldn’t be so quick to bring up opinion survey data in a discussion.
