Should prosecutors take into consideration the wishes of the victim's family before seeking the death penalty?

What I mean by this isn't "Hey, he raped my daughter; fry him" but rather that the family knows what the victim's beliefs on the subject were. If they know for a fact that he or she wouldn't have wanted the murderer executed, should the prosecutor honor those wishes and seek a prison sentence, not death
