More Arabic classes are being offered and more students are studying Arabic in U.S. colleges and universities as job opportunities and ethnic interest grow. A Modern Language Association survey showed that between 1998 and 2000, 233 more undergraduate schools offered Arabic classes. That's a 48% jump, but it is dwarfed by the increase in the number of students studying Arabic -- 92.3 percent, or 10,584 more students -- The Los Angeles Times reports.
