Most beer lovers blanch at paying $5 for a schooner, but cashed-up city types are spending up to four times that much in Sydney's trendy 'beer cafes'. A survey found the city's most expensive beer - Rochefort 10, a Belgian brew - sells for the equivalent of $21.77 a schooner. Being a 'super premium'' beer, this expensive drop doesn't come in such a common glass, but that's how much it would cost to fill a schooner, with a 330ml bottle going for $16.90 at the Heritage Belgian Beer Cafe in The Rocks. Drinkers get a lot of alcohol for their money, however. The beer has an alcohol volume of 11.3% compared to less than 5% for most Australian beers.
