Does your local hospital have a team of 'hospitalists'?

A hospitalist takes over for your primary physician when you're admitted and keeps your own doctor informed. Patients are then returned to the care of their own doctors after discharge. These are doctors who only work in hospitals and there are probably 11,000 to 12,000 of them in the United States. Some of the are at all three campuses of Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. Studies show that hospitalist-attended patients have shorter lengths of stay, better medical outcomes and even higher survival rates.
