Would you support the government in investing in alternative energy infrastructure?

For example, one of the main set backs in solar energy is the initial cost of the necessary infrastructure. The same is true for facilities that mass produce algae for the production of biofuel. If the government were to have spent what it has on the war in Iraq on developing this kind of infrastructure, we would theoretically no longer be dependent on fossil fuels for energy.
