Bid to sell vote on Internet LONDON (AFP) - An anonymous Londoner has offered to sell their vote in the upcoming local and European elections to the highest bidder on an Internet auction site. With a starting bid of just 99 pence, eBay shoppers were offered the chance to choose who the unidentified Briton would vote for in Thursday's polls for London mayor, the London Assembly and the European Parliament. 'The person had effectively put their ballot paper on the website and was offering to sell their vote to the highest bidder,' an electoral commission spokeswoman said. The auction, now removed from the website, had not attracted a single offer by the time it was spotted by election officials. A spokesman for the department for constitutional affairs said: 'I think putting your vote up for sale is against the spirit of democracy.'
