When human transplantation of hearts, kidneys, livers and lungs were initially mastered it brought hope to millions with life threatening conditions. Now scientists are focusing on animal organs. Overseas, pigs have already been genetically modified to solve the problem of organ donation. Pigs have been favoured because their organs are similiar to humans. Tissues and cells may be used to treat diabetes, and pig cells could be injected into human brains for alzheimer's treatment.
