'Bad Ass' Coffee Shop Infuriates Neighbors Mon Oct 21,11:03 PM ET Starbucks is one thing, but the name chosen for a Manassas coffee shop has some folks up in arms. 'The Bad Ass Coffee Company' is moving into a Sudley Road strip mall, where its neighbors include a religious goods store and a Toys 'R' Us. Some folks who arrive for the 'G'-rated fare are surprised and upset by the name of the new store. One woman tells the Northern Virginia Journal her son took one look at the sign and asked if it was a swear word. She plans to take her business elsewhere. The manager of the Family Christian Stores says nearly a dozen people have complained about the sign. But the store owner says the 'Bad Ass' name comes from a legend about donkeys carrying coffee beans down mountainsides. The sign features a drawing of a donkey. The owner also insists he chose that particular shopping center because it's a good location.
