New South Wales chief vet Bruce Christie says the overseas horse has returned one positive and one negative test at the Eastern Creek quarantine station and will be tested again today. Speaking at a national equine influenza summit in Sydney this morning, NSW Primary Industries Minister Ian McDonald said the scare was a reminder that a voluntary vaccination program should be considered. Mr McDonald says it is unlikely the possible horse flu infection has spread but there are no guarantees. The thoroughbred racing industry is calling for continued vaccinations to try to prevent another epidemic but veterinarians say that would not be the best method.
