Some Funeral Homes Turn Remains Into Man-Made Diamond Some people say it is a way for grieving families to remember their loved ones with a manufactured gemstone. It is expected to become a trend that will change the funeral industry. People who want to be cremated can choose to have some of their remains turned into a blueish, man-made diamond, called the LifeGem. 'It's a basic scientific principle - we're made of out carbon and diamonds are made out of carbon. We're just combining the two,' said Greg Herro, LifeGem CEO. The cost for one of these diamonds is about $4,000 for a quarter-carat.
