Do you think insurance companies in other countries will follow in this German insurance company's footsteps?

Is the rising petrol price a risk to your bank account? Do what they're doing in Germany, where car drivers can now insure themselves against escalating fuel costs. For the equivalent of about R180 a year, an insurance company offers a policy against petrol prices rising by more than 15 percent. If the price for the chosen type of petrol does go up more than that, the company will cover the difference in cost. And Bild newspaper reports that the insurance company will pay the price difference for up to 2 000 litres. Even if prices only rise in the part of Germany where there client is living, the insurance will cover the costs. Like the rest of the world, Germany has seen soaring rises in petrol prices in recent years - both because of crude oil prices and because a special tax introduced to protect the environment. -
