It's a bit like 'white guilt', except the guilt is more about American (as opposed to simply white) privilege and America's effect on the world as a whole. Admittedly, I feel guilty and somewhat disgusted by the fact that I'm an American at times. I think that if I ever leave the country again, I'll tell people that I'm Canadian.
