Does the evening news seem to be more of a fashion show than a current affairs program these days?

In relation to the clothes newsreaders are wearing to present the news.. I seem to spend more time looking at the clothes than listening to the actual news stories these days.. Should female newsreaders wear suits instead of evening wear? Are they dressing up too much for work? Or are they appropriately dressed for tv?
