Do most of the fortune cookies you get at a Chinese restaurant have a fortune, or just some kind of a saying?

I can't even remember the last time I saw a real fortune in a fortune cookie. Now they just say generic things like 'you are a kind person' and 'you have many friends'. And give you lottery numbers. What happened to the REAL ones, do they still exist?
