Her father says she is 'about as happy as a little girl can be,' but after national media reports about a controversial liposuction procedure that removed a massive amount of fat from the obese 12-year-old Texas girl, leaders in plastic surgery caution the operation is an unacceptable and potentially dangerous treatment for weight loss in anyone, child or adult. 'Liposuction is not an accepted treatment for obesity,' said plastic surgeon Zachary Gerut, a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's body contouring committee and assistant clinical professor of plastic surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York. 'It's like cutting out a piece of skin for psoriasis. The problem is still there. The person is going to get psoriasis everywhere else.'
