Should all schools install hand sanitizers in cafeterias and teacher work rooms in order to cut down on absenteeism?

Overland Trail Middle School in Overland Park is cleaning up its act. In October, with the aim of cutting down on germs and absenteeism, the school installed hand-sanitizer dispensers where the students eat lunch and in the teachers' workrooms. Although she doesn't have any hard data, Donna Missimer, the school's nurse, suspects that students have missed less school this year than they did last year. “We're as interested in keeping the faculty healthy as we are in keeping the kids healthy,” she said. “My principal seems to be pleased with it.” Although lunchtime is her germ-fighting focus, Missimer said that at other times of the day she'll see a passing student “take a squirt, which I think is great. Good hand-washing keeps everybody healthy.”
