Do you just pick random things to be your favorite things?

My favorite country is Russia, my favorite singer is Gordon Lightfoot, and stuff like that although I never really listened to Gordon Lightfoot until AFTER I decided he was my favorite singer, and I don't think I'd ever want to go to RUssia.. I was just thinking about them one day so I made it my favorite things :)
