If a parent can speak a foreign language, do you think it is their duty to teach it to their children?

Someone in my family is a Spanish teacher yet none of her children can speak a word of Spanish. The kids are ages 15, 13, and 12. If I could speak Spanish I would totally be teaching it to my kids as soon as they were ready. It's just such a bonus to be able to communicate in as many ways as you can.
