Do you think the coup in Thailand was performed in good faith, for the good of the nation, or for some ulterior motive like personal gain?

On September 19. 2006, forces in the Thai military staged a military coup, overthrowing the democratically elected government. They say this was done as a last resort, in order to ferret out wide scale corruption and to end the political crisis that has endured for the past year. The figurehead King has given the coup his blessing, and the generals promise a new election in a year, after the constitution has been improved, and corrupt politicians have been investigated and prosecuted.
