Is the 'demonized child' overplayed in horror films?

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks so - I believe the whole 'child goes crazy and walks around like a zombie while humming nursery rhymes' bit is completely tired. Might've been scary the first time around, maybe even the second time around, but the sixteen thousandth time?
