Story: I saw something about an American town that did this for Oprah or something... kind of neat! ***** Australian town goes on mass diet Friday 20th December 2002 A town near the Queensland-New South Wales border is going on a diet because so many of the 1,000 population is overweight. The town of Texas is the first in Australia to trial the healthy towns concept. It will involve more walking tracks, the butcher supplying lean meat and the local takeaway store offering healthy food alternatives. A spokesman said: 'It's the whole of the town saying as a whole of community, we're going to eat better food, we're going to increase our exercise as a whole of community approach.'
