Powell Says U.S. Not Looking for War Sat Nov 9, 8:15 AM ET By SAM F. GHATTAS, Associated Press Writer BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - Addressing the Arab TV audience on the new Security Council resolution on Iraq, Secretary of State Colin Powell said the United States was not looking for war but that it reserves the right to act against Baghdad. Powell made a personal approach to the Arabs Friday, starting the interview on the Lebanese Broadcasting Corp. with the expression 'Ramadan Kareem,' the greeting in Arabic on the occasion of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan that began on Wednesday. He said the United States wants a peaceful way out of the Iraq crisis. Washington will be watching Iraqi action and will consider all options and return to the Security Council to force Iraq to implement the resolution, he said. Hours earlier, the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved the resolution giving weapons inspectors the muscle they need to hunt for illicit weapons in Iraq. The vote was a victory for the United States and started a countdown toward disarmament or war. President Bush said the U.N. Resolution No. 1441 'presents the Iraqi regime with a final test.'.....
