If man were able to prove the existence of a god, would people's faith in that god then be of less value?

To me, faith is of value only in situations where there is no explanation, not simply BECAUSE of an explanation. As of now, no one is able to prove or disprove god's existence, so people who DO believe in a god do so because of their faith. If god's existence were to be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, though, what would be the value of that faith?
