Pectus Excatum's occur in 1 out of every 1,000 live births. It's a condition which causes the cartilage in the rib cage to grow inward instead of outward. As a result, the space between the spine and the breastbone becomes smaller. In sever cases this results in internal organs being squeezed, rotated and the like, and corrective surgery is required. A P.E. looks like a sunken chest.
