Are Merlin, Gandalf, Belgarath and Dumbledore all the same character?

Merlin, of course, hails from Arthurian legend. Gandalf comes to us via J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth. Belgarath is David Eddings' ancient, wizened wizard. Dumbledore is the head master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All are old, wise, and have great white beards and are, of course, wizards.
