Kansas City is looking into a new crime-fighting technology that other big cities are using to pinpoint where gunshots are fired from and who fired them. Cities like St. Louis, Minneapolis, Chicago and Gary, Ind., have found the technology, called ShotSpotter, effective in investigating and deterring crime, said ShotSpotter company Midwest region sales director Lynn Barousse. Barousse made a presentation about his company’s technology at the City Council’s Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee, where council members expressed interest in the public safety tool as the city combats an alarming homicide rate.
