Local action can help head off the global disaster of climate change, was the message from a high-level WLGA conference in Cardiff yesterday. Following a stark warning from Sir John Houghton CBE, FRS, former Chief Executive of the Met Office, that climate change was a weapon of mass destruction, conference delegates including the First Minister, Council Leaders and leading international environmental experts agreed that effective local action can make a massive impact on the future of the world's climate.
