Is it harder to choose a name for a pet or a child?

I'm not trying to compare the two. However, it seems to me that people who have their child's name picked out to the 5th middle name long before the child is born, can't pick on a pet's name. While the people who have their pets name picked out 'If I ever have a dog, his name is ___', struggle when trying to pick a name for a child.
