SEATTLE - Meet Marvin, a 4-year-old house cat who lives a dog's life. 'Pretty much all he does is sleep, eat and lay down all day long,' said Brooke Corbett, Marvin's person. About the only thing that gets Marvin moving is mealtime. 'There's not a cat food he doesn't like,' said Brooke. The problem is Marvin is a very fat cat, weighing in at 18 pounds 10.5 ounces 'He has trouble when he tries to wash himself. He can't get to his entire belly … it's sad,' said Brooke. Now veterinarians say the same diet that has helped millions of people lose weight will also work on pets, especially cats. Call it the 'Catkins Diet.' We put Marvin on the Catkins Diet under the supervision of Dr. Lora Schuldt. 'The average cat should be between 8 and 11 pounds,' said Dr. Schuldt. Marvin's body fat number shouldn't be more than 30, but it's 48. He needs to lose a third of his body weight.
