Can one really go through life with incredibly low expectations?

Awhile ago I had this theory that if I lowered my expectations, I'd hardly ever be dissappointed. Then I discovered that we have expectations about even the most minute of things--like that a pizza won't be burnt if you put it in for as long as the box says. When it comes out black, you've been let down.
