Judge rebuked for anti-gay statement Tue Dec 24,11:28 PM By Jen Christensen, For the first time in Mississippi, a judicial commission has recommended penalizing a judge for writing about his anti-gay bias. Mississippi Justice Court Judge Connie Wilkerson had written a letter to the editor of the George County Times against the California law that allows gay partners the same right to sue for wrongful death as legal spouses or family members. He wrote, 'In my opinion, gays and lesbians should be put in some type of mental institute instead of having a law like this passed for them.' Wilkerson presides over the George County small claims court in Mississippi. Lambda Legal Defense and Equality Mississippi, a gay and lesbian rights groups, filed a complaint against him in April.
