Are you ever surprised by some of the talents your parents have?

I was always writing stories and poems when I was younger and when I was in high school I found a box filled with hilarious stories and poems my mother had written as a teen. She had never talked about her interest in writing but she was good at it and it must have been important to her at one time from the amount of stuff I found.
