Do you think that actors who don't always do mainstream films are under-appreciated?

For example, Johnny Depp. He hasn't done many mainstream films even though he's had plenty of offers such as Keanu's role in Speed, Leo's role in Titanic and Tom's role in Interview with the Vampire. Johnny has also never won an Oscar or Golden Globe for his films.
