Should the amount of time a victim will suffer because of a crime have any bearing on sentencing?

A murder will affect a victim and the victim's family forever, so a life sentence would be applied in that case. A person who steals from their company might impact that company's profits for anywhere from 1-20 years depending on the circumstances, so a case involving that would lead to a sentence of no more than 20 years. Obviously it couldn't be used as an absolute, or in every case, but would it be a good factor to weigh in when a judge decides a sentence?
