A playground yob who set fire to a schoolgirl cancer victim's hair was yesterday ordered to pay her £200 compensation. The girl of 11 ran screaming to staff after the 14-year-old boy lit her hair, which had grown back after chemotherapy, with a cigarette lighter. The girl, who had just returned to school after battling her illness, beat out the fire with her hands but her hair was badly singed. The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, admitted causing actual bodily harm. The boy was ordered to attend sessions with a youth offending team. He and his family will pay £200 to the girl and £60 prosecution costs.
