Next week, it looks like the face-off between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns won't be the only source of tension between California and Arizona. The Los Angeles City Council has voted to end all business dealings with the Grand Canyon State. The boycott stems from Arizona's controversial new legislation to crack down on illegal immigration, which many say promotes racial profiling. LA now has the distinction of being the largest city in the nation to launch a boycott against Arizona, following in the footsteps of major American cities such as Washington D.C. and Boston. The Reyes-Hahn motion calls for city officials to stop traveling to Arizona to do business, to refrain from entering into any new contracts with Arizona companies and to identify any existing contracts with Arizona businesses that can be terminated immediately.
