Do you have the passwords to your partner's e-mail and online accounts?

My friend was shocked and appalled that I have no idea what my husband's e-mail password is. She checks her husband's e-mail a couple times a week. He doesn't have mine. He doesn't care about chicken recipes and fabric sales. I don't care about computer programming and auto repair. Why would I even want to read his e-mail?
