When I was a teenager hitchhiking was basically the only way to get somewhere without your parents driving you. So i there was no doubt you'd pick up hichhikers when you finally had an own car. Nowadays hitchhiking isn't very popular anymore in our leg of the woods though.

I haven't, but my old boss at a hotel picked one up a couple of times and gave them rooms and a job at the hotel.
