Do you think the country of Australia was smart in banning the use of boardroom laser pointers, since people are using them to blind pilots?

Australian scientists have attacked the federal government ban on importing high-powered laser pointers as using a "sledgehammer to crack a nut". And vision experts say people using the lasers to distract pilots would have to be good shots to make the beam temporarily blind the pilot. Home affairs minister Bob Debus announced a ban on importing high-powered laser pointers after a series of beams were shone at pilots. This included one incident last month at Sydney Airport where four green lasers were pointed at six aeroplanes for 15 minutes, which forced the planes to change their flight paths.
