Do you believe that the mind is massively modular or modular in the sense that Fodor describes?

Fodor states, amongst other things, that for a cognitive process to be modular it must be: Domain specific (Respond to specific kinds of input) Encapsulated, in that it does not need/take into account any information from any other system other than its set input in order to function. Thus it also cannot be affected by knowledge (i.e. you still see visual illusions despite knowing that they are illusions, for example the image to the left, you see one line as longer than the other despite knowing they are the same length). Hard wired. Are low level processes that produce shallow outputs. Massive modularity states that, to varying degrees, higher level processes can also be modular (i.e. social reasoning), often meaning that Fodor's criteria are not applicable.
